The name of this site reflects the fact that I have extensive experience in rubber manufacturing and product application of rubber products, including industrial and hydraulic hose and power transmission products.  In addition, I taught a continuing education class on mechanical power transmission products (belts, chain, gears, couplings, bearings, etc).  I consider these to be my areas of expertise as well.  Since I have a business that designed and markets fire suppression products, I have a good working knowledge in that area as well.

When I retired from The Gates Rubber Company (Chief Engineer) in 1999, I obtained the domain name of beltguy.com.  That was the name I used in our online technical  forum: "Ask Beltguy".  I used that domain for several years and still use it today as a link to several personal and business websites.  However, that domain name caused some questions about my knowledge in other product areas (hose, couplings and other forms of power transmission products).
